4-star California safety Kamari Ramsey decommits from Stanford

On3 Consensus four-star safety Kamari Ramsey has backed off his longtime commitment to Stanford.
The 6-foot, 199-pound Ramsey committed to the Cardinal on Aug. 14. But on Sunday, the star from Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon announced he was no longer on board with the Cardinal.
“I would like to express my gratitude toward Coach Shaw and Coach Akina for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to play Division I football,” Ramsey said. “After much prayer and much consideration with my family, I have decided it is in my best interest to decommit from Stanford University.
“My family and I wish Stanford University nothing but blessings moving forward.”
UCLA trending for Kamari Ramsey
UCLA got an official visit out of Ramsey during the season – on Oct. 23 – and intel indicates the Bruins are putting on the full-court press to get him to flip his commitment. UCLA coaches had an in-home visit with him last week, Ramsey said.
Before he committed to Stanford, Ramsey also visited Ohio State and USC officially. Ramsey gave no indication whether or not he plans to sign on Wednesday or decide to wait things out.
