After the season, Tennessee lost some key players to the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft, including Drew Gilbert and Trey Lipscomb. But star pitcher Chase Dollander is due back after an impressive sophomore season, including a perfect 10-0 record and a team-leading 2.39 ERA en route to SEC Pitcher of the Year honors after transferring from Georgia Southern.
But Vitello and Co. also dove into the transfer portal to land Maui Ahuna, a star second baseman from Kansas. He spent two years in Lawrence before committing to the Volunteers and came in as the No. 36 2023 draft prospect, according to D1Baseball. Last year, Ahuna had a .396 average with eight home runs and 48 RBI as Kansas went 20-35 overall.
