As Mike Elko goes through the emotions of Texas A&M taking down Notre Dame, there is still an injury on his mind. Defensive back Bryce Anderson went down in the first half, eventually being stretchered off the field. Certainly a scary moment for the entire program, watching one of their guys leave due to a collision.

However, the update from Elko during his postgame press conference was a good one. Elko says “all things are positive” when it comes to Anderson. He continues to hope for the best for one of Texas A&M’s veteran leaders.

“Still praying for Bryce,” Elko said via TexAgs. “At this point, all things are positive. We will continue to pray for a positive resolution.”

The moment occurred while Anderson was attempting to make a play after a Notre Dame pass play. Lowering his helmet, two Aggie defenders converged on the area. Anderson then remained face down as trainers sprinted over to him.

As he was carted off, Bryce Anderson was able to give a thumbs up to the crowd. The crowd erupted upon seeing that, taking it as a positive sign.

NBC broadcast provides in-game update on Bryce Anderson

Before Elko could publicly speak himself, he gave an update to the NBC broadcast. Anderson was transported to a local hospital, just around two miles away. Being able to have feeling in his limbs provided a mini sigh of relief at the time as well.

“I just spoke to head coach Mike Elko to get an update on senior safety Bryce Anderson,” sideline reporter Kathryn Tappen said. “He was spine-boarded. He was then taken in an ambulance to Beacon Memorial Hospital for precautionary reasons. That is a Level I trauma center two miles away from here at Notre Dame Stadium.

“He has feeling in all of his limbs. Coach spoke to him on the way out. He also said he told his team, ‘This is our brother.’ The guys want to play strong for him here in the second half.”

Texas A&M does get a week off after the Notre Dame game, going into a bye. From there, a whole lot of tough SEC games fall on the schedule. Sept. 27 is the first, welcoming the Auburn Tigers to Kyle Field. An important season is ahead for head coach Mike Elko, potentially doing so without a key defensive back.
