Positive news regarding Texas A&M defensive back Bryce Anderson came out on Wednesday. The Aggies revealed Anderson was able to fly back with the team from South Bend after being transported to a local hospital. Thankfully, Anderson did not suffer “catastrophic injury” following a scary moment against Notre Dame.

Moments later, head coach Mike Elko addressed the possibility of Anderson getting back on the field. He does believe Anderson will return at some point but did not have an exact timeline. More than anything, having Anderson around the team was a big morale booster.

“It was a blessing to have him on the plane with us,” Elko said via the SEC Coaches Teleconference. “It was, obviously, great for all the boys to see him. It was great that he skated through what could have been a really, really bad situation. He is still in the process of recovering. So, hard to guage a timeline right now but we do we expect to have him back this year. Probably just a little too early to tell when that will be.”

Texas A&M takes in a bye week, getting to watch the college football action on Saturday. Hugh Freeze and the Auburn Tigers await on the other end. Kyle Field hosts what could wind up being a top-10 showdown, the Aggies’ SEC opener.

Anderson returning within a couple of weeks appears unlikely. However, Elko does expect to get him back at some point in the season. For now, it’s all about immediately recovering.

Texas A&M releases positive update on Bryce Anderson

Texas A&M released a statement on DB Bryce Anderson after his hospitalization. It was an encouraging one from the football program.

“Bryce traveled home with the team Saturday night following our game against Notre Dame and has since undergone further evaluation by our medical staff,” the statement on Anderson read. “We are thankful to report that no catastrophic injury was found.

“Bryce is in great spirits, and our focus now is on supporting him through his recovery. We’re grateful for the many thoughts, prayers and messages from the Aggie Family and know Bryce will continue to feel that support as he heals.”

Anderson went down in the first half vs. Notre Dame this weekend, eventually being stretchered off the field. Certainly a scary moment for the entire program, watching one of their guys leave due to a collision.
