Texas A&M safety Bryce Anderson was shaken up late in the first half against Notre Dame. He was eventually taken off the field on a stretcher.

Anderson was injured while attempting to make a tackle on a passing play. He lowered his helmet and made contact with a Notre Dame receiver as two other defenders also converged on the area.

He did not move after administering the hit. Trainers immediately rushed out onto the field and the crowd fell deathly silent. Players from both teams looked on in shock.

The TV broadcast went to commercial break after the hit, then returned to show the harrowing scene. Ultimately, the broadcast went to a second commercial break while trainers and medical personnel attended to Bryce Anderson.

Texas A&M coach Mike Elko gathered his team and knelt down in a huddle, offering some words to the guys amid the devastating injury. Both teams seemed emotional after the injury.

As he was carted off, Bryce Anderson was able to give a thumbs up to the crowd. The crowd erupted upon seeing that, as you can see below.

According to a report from TexAgs, Anderson was taken to a hospital for precautionary reasons. He has feeling in all of his limbs.

Notre Dame was driving at the time of the incident, trailing 28-24 in a first half that had provided some riveting action for the fans. Texas A&M, though, was able to come up with a key defensive stop before the half, keeping its lead intact.

Texas A&M leads at halftime

While all eyes are on Bryce Anderson at this point, Texas A&M was playing well on the road in the pivotal non-conference matchup. The Aggies had piled up 328 yards of offense in the first half, with 258 of that total coming via the passing game.

But while it was the aerial attack eating up chunks of yards, it was the strong running of Le’Veon Moss in the red zone that was really paying off. Moss logged 11 first-half carries for 43 yards and three scores.

Aggies quarterback Marcel Reed was 9-of-16 passing for 258 yards with one touchdown and one interception in the first half. Receiver Mario Craver was his main target, catching six passes for 173 yards and a touchdown.
