Caden Sorrell three-run shot in 8th inning propels Texas A&M to upset win vs. No. 2 LSU

A three-run homer from Caden Sorrell lifted Texas A&M to victory against LSU on Sunday afternoon in College Station. Sorrell stepped to the plate in the eighth inning with the Aggies trailing by one run and blasted a deep shot to left field that flew over the fence.
That gave A&M a 6-4 lead, the score it would eventually go on to win by. The Aggies won the overall series against the Tigers 2-1 after splitting the first two games.
Texas A&M entered the bottom of the eighth inning trailing 4-2. But the Aggies got a pair of runners on and had a chance to chip away at the lead. They did just that when Jace LaViolette stepped up to drive in a run off his single to make it a one-run deficit.
Wyatt Hensler singled after LaViolette to give the Aggies two runners on base when Sorrell came up to bat. Of course, the sophomore then connected on to send it out of the park and send the Tigers home with a loss.
A&M also won Game 1 against LSU, so Sunday’s victory gave it a 2-1 series win. The Aggies improved to 27-20 (10-14 SEC) and currently sit tied for 12th place in the conference standings.

Caden Sorrell hits walk-off bomb vs. South Carolina, dons Masters green jacket and walks off ESPN interview
Sorrell also pulled out some theatrics the week of The Masters early in April. Texas A&M won 8-7 over South Carolina in an extra inning during the first game of their conference series on Thursday night with a walk-off home run from Caden Sorrell.
That earned him a green jacket, in Aggieland rather than Augusta, as A&M had been celebrating with one throughout the game in the dugout. Following the win on ESPNU, Sorrell obviously got the postgame interview after his winning swing of the bat. After ending up with a putter, the broadcast wanted to see his putt as well with him doing so in walk-off fashion too.
Overall this season, Sorrell has a .346 batting average and 28 hits with 28 RBI. He’ll look to continue his hot hitting streak as the Aggies look to finish the regular season strong heading into the SEC Tounament.
