Report: Duke Miles requests release from NLI after transferring to Texas A&M

Duke Miles has already backed out of one commitment made during this cycle after entering the NCAA Transfer Portal. He will now have a release from his second one to this point of the offseason.
Per Tobias Bass at The Athletic, Miles has submitted for a release from the letter of intent that he signed to transfer to Texas A&M. That comes a week after committing to join the Aggies from the portal.
“NEWS: Duke Miles (@Dukemiles10) has submitted paperwork to be released from his NLI at Texas A&M, he tells @TheAthleticCBB,” Bass tweeted on Friday.
Miles entered the portal back on April 2nd after his lone season at Oklahoma. He’d then commit by the next week on April 7th to Virginia, now coached by Ryan Odom, before decommitting from the Cavaliers that weekend on April 11th. Miles then committed to Texas A&M, now coached by Bucky McMillan, last week on April 22nd. Now the word is he won’t be transferring to the program.
Miles has played five collegiate seasons at Troy, High Point, and Oklahoma. In 116 appearances, Miles has 86 starts. In that time, he has averaged 11.6 points (49.5% FG, 35.3% 3PT), 2.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. A full-time starter this past year and a redshirt senior, Miles averaged 9.4 points (51.4% FG, 43% 3PT), 2.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.4 steals, which had him second in steals and third in points, assists, field-goal percentage, and three-point percentage for OU.

Miles is, once again, back to being one of the top combo guards available in the portal with this report. Per the latest update to On3’s Industry Ranking of 2025’s Top Transfer Portal Players, Miles rates at No. 168 overall and as the No. 9 CG.
With this news, Texas A&M is back down to seven additions in the portal ahead of its first season under McMillan. They’ve brought Federiko Federiko (Texas Tech), Mackenzie Mgbako (Indiana), Jamie Vinson (Texas), Marcus Hill (NC State), Jacari Lane (North Alabama), Zach Clemence (Kansas), and Josh Holloway (Samford) so far to College Station. Those are part of the roster overhaul for the program, with eight seniors, seven transfers out, and then these seven transfers in.
After originally going from the SEC to the ACC, Miles was going to transfer elsewhere in the Southeastern Conference. He won’t end up in Aggieland either, though, as he’ll be back available in the portal upon that release becoming official from the school.
