Texas A&M DH Austin Bost: Don't let us keep winning

The name of the game for Texas A&M over their past two games has been ‘survive and advance’. After dropping their opening game on Thursday, the Aggies have faced elimination twice and held off both times under head coach Jim Schlossnagle. Notre Dame was the latest victim on Tuesday, with Texas A&M getting a comfortable 5-0.
Austin Bost spoke to D1 Baseball after the game, discussing what it means to advance again in the College World Series. He said playing with his teammates has been a blast and is excited to keep the ball rolling.
“I mean, it’s everything,” Bost said. “It’s a dream come true for all these guys and we’re just doing our thing and winning ball games. It’s a lot of fun doing it with this group of guys. I mean, they’re my brothers and I couldn’t ask for anything better.”
Ever since the College Station Regional, Texas A&M has had to bond together to keep its national championship hopes alive. Overcoming an early defeat led to two wins before advancing to the Super Regional. Obstacles have come quickly and often for the Aggies. The team is clearly close.
Furthermore, Bost said everybody involved with Texas A&M loves to pick each other up. He mentioned starting pitcher Nathan Dettmer by name for his performance today but had he not, the Aggies would have been ready to pick up the slack.

“That’s what we do,” Bost said. “Pick each other up. Nathan Dettmer went out there and did Nathan Dettmer stuff. We were just able to score enough runs to get the W. Like you said, we pick each other up. One person messes up, the next one has got him. So, that’s how we have been rolling all year.”
Finally, Bost gave a warning to the remaining teams at the College World Series. He said letting the Aggies continually win games is a bad idea for everyone left in Omaha.
“Don’t let us keep winning,” said Bost. “That’s what we say — ‘don’t let us win one because when we win one, we’re going to keep winning.’
The message may have been meant up for Oklahoma, who is next up on the schedule. Texas A&M will have to win two out of three to advance into the championship series. Bost and his squad are as dangerous as anyone, even with a loss attached to their name.
