UCLA defensive back Jaylin Davies enters Transfer Portal

UCLA Bruins defensive back Jaylin Davies entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, On3 has learned.
Davies has been with UCLA for the last three seasons and has been a contributor to the Bruins’ defense for the length of his time there. Prior to that, he spent a season with the Oregon Ducks, only appearing in two games that season.
In 40 career games, Jaylin Davies has made 108 total tackles, including two tackles for a loss and 0.5 sacks. He also has four interceptions and 11 passes defended for his career to go with a forced fumble. Perhaps the most productive season of his career came in 2022 when he had three interceptions.
After playing his high school football at Mater Dei in California, Jaylin Davies was named a four-star prospect in the Class of 2021, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He was the 24th-ranked cornerback and the 298th-ranked player overall in that recruiting cycle.

In high school, he was a 2021 Under Armour All-American Game, was named to the first-team MaxPreps 2020 Preseason High School All-American Football Team, and was on the All-State Football First Team, while earning first-team All-CIF Southern Section Division 1 Team honors.
Davies has been no stranger to coaching changes in his college career. In his first season at Oregon, he was coached by Mario Cristobal. Then, when he initially moved to UCLA he was coached by Chip Kelly and then by DeShaun Foster in 2024. Presumably, he’ll have a fourth coach now in 2025.
UCLA went through a difficult first season in 2024. After going through a coaching change later in the cycle than is typical, the Bruins promoted Foster. However, in UCLA’s first Big Ten season he wasn’t able to get them to a bowl, going 5-7 overall and 3-6 in conference play.
The Transfer Portal opened on December 9th. This is one of two Transfer Portal windows available for players to move to a new program during the offseason. The other will come following Spring practice.
