Perhaps no one is more excited that Caleb Williams is heading to USC than his former teammate Mario Williams. The quarterback-wide receiver duo are members of the same 2021 signing class and they committed to Lincoln Riley just two months apart two years ago.

“Now just watch this,” Mario Williams tweeted with the sunglass-wearing smiling emoji after Caleb’s announcement. The post includes a photo of the two former Sooners in front of the Coliseum.

Mario announced his transfer from OU to USC last month, and now Caleb is joining him in Los Angeles for 2022 and beyond.

Caleb Williams opened the 2021 season at Oklahoma, sitting behind former Heisman favorite Spencer Rattler on the depth chart. In the Red River Rivalry against Texas, Williams saw his first significant action, leading the Sooners to a 21-point comeback. The starting job belonged to him ever since.

As a true freshman in 2021, Williams threw for 1,912 yards and four interceptions, accumulating 27 total touchdowns. Now, he will look to build upon his electric start to his career alongside Lincoln Riley and Mario Williams once again.

In On3’s NIL 100, which ranks college athletes based on their NIL Valuations, Caleb Williams came in at 16th overall. As of February 1, five weeks after his initial On3 NIL Valuation came in, Williams now sits at $442,000. His exact NIL Valuation growth is listed as $8,700, or a two percent increase. With a lot of traffic already going through his posts where he announced his USC commitment, Williams is likely going to see a rise in the coming days and weeks.

As a true freshman this season at Oklahoma, Mario Williams caught 35 passes for 380 yards and four touchdowns. He had his best game of the season in a win over Texas Tech in late December, hauling in five receptions for 100 yards and a touchdown.

Mario Williams was a four-star recruit coming out of high school, the 35th overall prospect, and No. 3 wide receiver in the 2021 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Caleb and Mario Williams aren’t the only former Sooners rejoining Lincoln Riley. Defensive back Latrell McCutchin also announced his transfer to USC last month.

In nine games this year, McCutchin had nine solo tackles and two forced fumbles as a freshman. He was a four-star recruit out of high school and the No. 24 cornerback recruit from the Class of 2021, according to the On3 Consensus.
