Prince Strachan injury update: Lincoln Riley reveals USC WR will not play vs. Georgia Southern

Prince Strachan made his debut with USC last weekend in their blowout win over Missouri State. However, Strachan is now set to miss their second game tomorrow night, per Lincoln Riley.

On Friday, Riley revealed that Strachan will not play against Georgia Southern on Saturday. He’s the lone absence for now from the roster from last week’s chart to this one’s.

“Yeah, I mean, I think we’ll have – yeah, I think the only guy that won’t be available this week that was last week is Prince,” Riley said to the media this morning as far as a lineup update. “Then we’ll have a few guys, you know, that weren’t available last week…a couple of those guys that we anticipate being active and ready to play tomorrow. It’ll affect the reps some but, largely, it’ll be the same group that you saw last Saturday.”

Strachan, a junior receiver, caught one pass last week in the 73-13 victory over Missouri State. He had that 25-yard reception, from Husan Longstreet at that point of the win, to end the third quarter as part of what was one of nine drives that resulted in touchdowns out of the dozen they had in total against the Bears.

Strachan transferred in this offseason after beginning his career with two seasons at Boise State. He had 37 catches for 578 yards and three touchdowns while an underclassman with the Broncos, including 25 catches for 304 yards and a touchdown as their third-leading receiver last season when they went 12-2, for the second straight season won the Mountain West, and made the College Football Playoff.

With that, Strachan was just outside the Top-1,000 names when it came to the NCAA Transfer Portal, per On3’s 2025 Top Transfer Portal Players. He rated at No. 1,028 overall and in the Top-175 at wide receiver.

As expected, Southern Cal had no issues on offense in the 60-point win in the opener last weekend. The Trojans posted 597 yards of offense in total, with 364 of those coming through the pass game between Jayden Maiava (15-18 for 295 yards 2 TDs) and Longstreet (9-9 for 69 yards, TD). Those two quarterbacks spread out that wealth too with 24 completions going to 14 different pass-catchers with Makai Lemon (7 receptions, 90 yards) and Ja’Kobi Lane (3 receptions for 33 yards) being the only ones who caught more than two.
