Report: USC to play 2028 home games at SoFi Stadium due to Olympic Games
The 2028 Olympics are expected to force USC football out of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum for the 2028 season, LA Times‘ Ryan Kartje reported Thursday morning. Due to this, the Trojans will likely play their home games at SoFi Stadium.
This will be a major change for the program, as it has been playing its home games at the Coliseum since 1923. SoFi Stadium is located 7.5 miles south of the University of Southern California.
This would mean that USC, UCLA, the Los Angeles Chargers, and the Los Angeles Rams will all be playing their home games at SoFi Stadium in 2028. UCLA reportedly finalized a deal in November that would move its home games from the Rose Bowl to SoFi, starting in the 2026 season. The two Los Angeles-based NFL franchises have played home games at SoFi since the stadium officially opened for the 2020 season.
It has been known for almost a decade now that the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum would be hosting the 2028 Summer Olympics. The destination was announced during the 131st IOC Session on July 31, 2017. This will be the third iteration of the Olympics that the Coliseum has hosted.
