The USC Trojans canceled their basketball game against Brown University scheduled for December 21st. It was a mutual agreement amid the tragic shooting that occurred on the Brown campus.

“USC Men’s Basketball and Brown Men’s Basketball have announced a mutual agreement to cancel their non-conference game scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 21,” the statement read. The entire USC community sends its support to Brown University following the tragedy that has impacted its students, staff, alumni and the city of Providence.

“The Trojans will play against a different opponent on Sunday, Dec. 21, at 1 p.m. in the Galen Center. More information will be released soon.”

Authorities are reportedly searching for a perpetrator of the deadly mass shooting at Brown. The suspect is approximately 5’8″ with a stocky build, per the FBI, via CNN.

“The shooting left two students dead and nine others injured at the Ivy League school in Providence, where classes and exams have been canceled,” the report stated. “The campus remains on edge, and the governor has ordered a sweeping review of school safety measures. At least 75 school shootings have unfolded this year in the United States.”

USC cancels game vs. Brown, will look for new opponent

USC seems to have an opponent, or opponents, in mind for December 21. Given that the game was supposed to be played five days from now, it’ll be interesting to see who can play on short notice.

But one thing’s for sure, Eric Musselman’s crew is off to a great start, especially after a bad loss to Washington. But the USC stars were honest after a 68-61 win over Washington State.

“I’ve never been ranked in college before, so it matters to me,” Ezra Ausar said. “It seals your position as to where you stand, statistically. But at the end of the day, we’re trying to accomplish our one goal to beat the team in front of us every night. Obviously, the ranking will come with the games that we win. We gain respect from other teams as well.”
