Wisconsin is making a beeline for a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Badgers are one of the hottest teams in the nation, coming off a huge victory over No. 8 Purdue where they clinched a share of the Big Ten title.

However, ESPN college basketball expert Joe Lunardi isn’t ready to have Wisconsin as a No. 1 seed yet. According to Lunardi, the Badgers may simply have too many hurdle to clear before the end of the season.

“I’m probably going to have them as a two tomorrow, so they’re already moving up,” stated Lunardi on Wednesday. “It’s not because they’ve done anything. It’s because I spent the day studying them and a few other teams.

“But when you look at Wisconsin, I just wonder if the committee would put a team with their metrics on the one line. I’m not saying they’re not good enough. They clearly are, and their resume will back up almost any seed 1-4. But I don’t see it happening. I think there’s too many teams ahead of them to leap-frog. And while some of them do play one another, they can’t all lose out, and that’s what would almost have to happen for Wisconsin to get all the way up to a one.”

While Lunardi may not believe Wisconsin has time to secure a No. 1 seed, the Badgers are in a great position. Moving forward, Wisconsin will be one of the toughest outs come tournament time, and there isn’t a team in the nation that wants to matchup with them.

Wisconsin defeats Purdue: Johnny Davis gives epic breakdown of Chucky Hepburn’s lucky, game-winning bank shot

Moreover, the way Wisconsin defeated Purdue was because of a miraculous shot from Chucky Hepburn. To illustrate, Hepburn nailed an off-balance, game-winning three-point bank shot with the Big Ten title on the line, clinching a share at the crown for Wisconsin. He did so in such an unlikely fashion that even Johnny Davis, his teammate, couldn’t believe it.

Davis thought it was lucky, frankly, that Wisconsin managed to pull ahead thanks to that miraculous shot. But he used a slightly different word.

“I’m not going to lie,” Davis said of Hepburn’s shot in his postgame press conference, “That was some bullshit. But it went in.”

Maybe Davis has a point. But make no mistake — lucky or not — the shot counted, and thanks to Hepburn, Wisconsin has both a regular-season Big Ten title and a new historic moment to etch into program history.
