Wisconsin football to begin alcohol sales at Camp Randall Stadium

The Wisconsin Badgers have announced that they’re going to allow the sale of alcohol in Camp Randall Stadium for football games, beginning in 2024 with the team’s home opener.
In a press release from Wisconsin, the school announced that beer, wine and pre-packaged alcoholic products such as hard seltzers are now going to be available for purchase. On top of that, sales of alcohol will also begin at UW Field House, which is where the Wisconsin women’s volleyball and men’s wrestling teams play.
“The option to purchase alcohol is common at collegiate athletic venues all over the country and we’re glad that we can now offer it as part of the fan experience at Camp Randall,” Chancellor Jennifer L. Mnookin in the release. “I appreciate the work our athletic and administrative teams have done to put together a plan that balances this opportunity with public safety.”
Wisconsin is going to play seven games at Camp Randall Stadium in 2024 and the alcohol sales are expected to provide an increase in revenue for the team. That includes several massive games, including hosting Alabama, Penn State, and Oregon and in what should be a thrilling season for not just the Badgers but the Big Ten Conference as a whole.
Fans are going to be limited to two drinks per person in a single purchase. Anyone under the age of 40 is going to be expected to show their ID to make the purchase as well and an electronic scanner is going to be used to verify the ID.

“We were pleased with how well alcohol sales went during the basketball and hockey seasons at the Kohl Center and LaBahn Arena last season and we expect much of the same at Camp Randall this fall,” Director of Athletics Chris McIntosh said.
A portion of the alcohol sales at Wisconsin is going to be used to provide financial support for both existing and future student wellness efforts on campus. In particular, those efforts that are designed to encourage the responsible use of and behavior around alcohol. That includes programs designed to support students who are experiencing challenges related to high-risk behaviors.
To help prevent problems related to the sale and consumption of alcohol during games the University of Wisconsin Police Department is going to provide an increased on-site presence during games. Fans also have access to a text line to relate any issues they encountered at Camp Randall Stadium.
