Ole Miss vs. Texas Tech softball weather delay: What time WCWS game will start

Ole Miss and Texas Tech found themselves in a weather delay ahead of both team’s opening game at the 2025 Women’s College World Series. First pitch was originally slated for 7 p.m. ET, but inclement weather in the area has pushed the start time back. NCAA Softball revealed the new start time in a statement released on X.
“WCWS Game 3 between Ole Miss and Texas Tech will begin at 8:15 p.m. ET. WCWS Game 4 between Oregon and UCLA will start approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of Game 3,” the statement read.
The grounds crew on-hand in Oklahoma City were forced to put the tarp over the infield due to the rain, and fans were asked to clear the bleachers. Below are the scenes from OKC ahead of what would have been the first pitch, via the Red Raiders’ social media.
Thursday’s matchup is the first-ever in the Women’s College World Series for both programs. After multiple NCAA Tournament bids since each program’s inception, both teams had to wait a little bit longer to make history.
Ole Miss is not nationally-seeded — the only team left in the field to hold that status. They enter Oklahoma City with a 42-19 overall record, including an 11-13 mark against the SEC.

The Rebels defeated the No. 4 nationally-seeded Arkansas Razorbacks 7-4 last weekend to win its first-ever NCAA Super Regional. This came after Ole Miss advanced through after winning the Tucson Regional the week before.
For the Red Raiders, they’re in the middle of an historic season for their softball program. Not only are they making their first-ever appearance in the Women’s College World Series, but it was also the first time the program ever hosted a Regional tournament. They did so as the No. 12 national seed in this year’s NCAA Tournament, ultimately defeating Florida State in the Tallahassee Super Regional. They swept their way to Oklahoma City as well, never tasting defeat along the way.
Their success can be attributed, in part, to the play of All-American pitcher NiJaree Canady, who boasts a 0.89 ERA and is 30-5 on the season coming into the final stretch of the NCAA Tournament. She’ll be on the mound for the Red Raiders on Thursday, meaning the Rebels’ bats will have their work cut out for them at the plate.
