Women's basketball takeaways: 11/15 edition

It was a loaded day of hoops and there’s plenty to discuss. Here are my takeaways from the slate.
1. Notre Dame fans, it might be time to start looking forward to 2026
Yesterday was a rough day for Notre Dame. Michigan absolutely dominated the Irish in a 93-54 win and the Wolverines handled Hannah Hidalgo as well as anyone I’ve seen.
The Irish just don’t have enough weapons and with Hidalgo being held to just 12 points, they didn’t stand a chance. This roster doesn’t seem deep enough and really struggled in the rebounding battle.
The good news? Notre Dame has an incredible freshman class coming in 2026. I’d start counting down the days if this team doesn’t figure out a way to maximize their talent and forge more chemistry soon.
2. South Carolina is the real USC (but Southern Cal will still be the USC I refer to, sorry)
South Carolina and USC were in a real battle in the first half of this game, but South Carolina’s size and cohesiveness were too much for the Trojans in the second segment.

The Gamecocks won the rebounding battle 56-32 and held star freshman Jazzy Davidson to 4-of-11 shooting. USC was just 1-of-14 from deep, while the Gamecocks were 4-of-10 from beyond the arc.
For now, the title of ‘Real SC’ belongs to South Carolina. But, sorry guys, the abbreviation USC still belongs to Southern Cal in my mind.
