It was a loaded day of hoops. Let’s recap.

1. Tennessee/Stanford goes down to the wire

Tennessee has had an underwhelming start to their season and I had a feeling Stanford would continue testing them. This game went down to the final seconds when the Cardinal had a chance to tie it up – but the Lady Vols pulled out the 65-62 road win.

Tennessee forced 30 turnovers and Talaysia Cooper continued to shine in the contest. The Lady Vols’ newcomers are taking some time to adjust to the system, though, so we’ll see how they progress as we near conference play.

2. Aaliyah Chavez has a big night

Oklahoma hosted NC State for the ACC/SEC Challenge and it delivered. The game went to overtime, where the Sooners eventually pulled out the win.

Freshman Aaliyah Chavez had a standout performance with 33 points (the most of any freshman this season), four rebounds, four assists and a steal.
