The Connecticut high school football season is mixed with the public school play of the CIAC and private schools primarily competes out of the Founders League, with many of results already giving folks a clearer picture of the 2025 campaign as it nears the end of the regular season.

Taking the No. 1 spot in this week’s Top 25 rankings out of the Constitution State is Avon Old Farms after a 63-35 rout of Salisbury School last week. Which other teams from around Connecticut high school football deserves to be in the discussion?

The Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.

Here is the latest Connecticut high school football Top 25 rankings, according to Massey as of Nov. 10.

1. Avon Old Farms Beavers

Avon Old Farms (8-0) opened up the Connecticut high school football season by avenging a loss to Brunswick School from last season and have set the tone for the rest of the campaign. The Beavers have a talented offense that’s averaging 41.5 points per game, led by quarterback Matthew Baer, running back Kharon Craig, and offensive tackle Charlie Thom (Notre Dame commitment).

The Beavers have concluded their regular season play out of the New England Preparatory School Athletic Counci (NEPSAC) and will finish their season this week against The Williston Northampton School in the Drew Gamere Bowl.

2. New Canaan Rams

The defending Class L state champion New Canaan Rams (8-0) were without longtime head coach Lou Marinelli, who missed his first game since 1981, in last week’s 28-0 win over Staples.

New Canaan has used a high-powered offense to cruise past the first few of opponents so far, with quarterback Maddox Hoffman throwing for 1,162 yards and 14 touchdowns this fall. Running back Henry Stein has rushed for 706 yards and five touchdowns.

The Rams look to make it nine in a row when they take on Trumbull this week.

3. St. Thomas More Chancellors

St. Thomas More (1-3) dropped to the No. 3 team in our latest set of rankings after a 50-21 loss to New Jersey’s No. 3 team, Hun School this past Saturday.

The Chancellors only losses from the 2024 season came against Maryland’s St. Frances Academy, Hun School, and Florida’s IMG Academy, respectively. St. Thomas More doesn’t have anymore scheduled games left on their 2025 slate.

Among the players the Chancellors feature on their roster are four-star edge rusher Alhassan Iddrissu (UCF), cornerback Terron Johnson, running back Malichi Greaves, and linebacker Christian King.

4. Choate Rosemary Hall Wild Boars

Choate Rosemary Hall (7-2) saw its 18-game winning streak snapped back in Week 1 when they lost against New Hampshire’s Phillips Exeter Academy in a battle of top-ranked teams in their respective states. The Wild Boars care of business in a 51-20 win over Deerfield Academy of Massachusetts last week.

In 2024, the Wild Boars had completed their second consecutive perfect season after defeating Brunswick School. They have lost only four games over the last four Connecticut high school football seasons and only allowed only four opponent to score double digits.

The Wild Boars are another prep school that features multiple future Division I players, including Tanner Raymond (Rutgers) and interior offense lineman Will Tellers. Choate Rosemary Hall will close the season against New Hampshire’s No. 1 ranked Phillips Exeter Academy in the Leon Modeste Bowl.

5. Killingly Trailblazers

The Killingly Trailblazers (7-0) make their way back into the Top 5 of this week’s Connecticut high school football rankings after a 63-27 shellacking of Norwich Free Academy last week.

Fueling the Killingly offensive attack is the stellar play of senior running back Hayden Allard, who has rushed for 1,395 yards and scored 20 touchdowns.
