Corona Centennial's Matt Logan wins 300th game
Corona Centennial’s caption perfectly fit Matt Logan’s Thursday night career accomplishment: This isn’t history. It’s the standard.
Logan became just the 15th head coach in California high school football history to record 300 wins after Centennial defeated Roosevelt, 62-20.
The Huskies improved to 5-1 on the season, but most importantly, history was made as Logan joined an exclusive club that just over a dozen have pulled off in the Golden State. According to high school sports records maintained by CalHiSports, Simi Valley’s Jim Benkert (314 wins all-time) is the only other active California high school head coach with 300 or more wins.
The longtime Huskies’ head coach began his coaching career back in 1997 and would become the architect of building a powerhouse at Centennial. Since his inception into the coaching ranks, Logan has compiled an overall record of 300-65, with a 70-16 mark in the postseason and has collected 22 league titles along the way.

Logan’s biggest win to date this season, other than Thursday night’s feat, was a few weeks ago when he returned from health complications to lead Centennial to a 43-36 win over previously No. 1 ranked Mater Dei.
There’s still plenty of work to be done yet for Logan and the Huskies as the legendary head coach has his team positioned to compete for a CIF Open Division championship this fall. Centennial has four games remaining on the regular season slate, with next week returning to action against Vista Murrieta (4-1).
