The Michigan high school football season has now concluded with the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) state championships now finished. Which teams from the Wolverine State are featured in the last set of Top 25 rankings for 2025?
Detroit Catholic Central remains the No. 1 after a 42-19 victory over Cass Technical for the MHSAA’s Division 1 state championship. State championship results impacted the final set of rankings so take a look at where teams finished for the 2025 campaign.
The Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.
Here is the last Michigan high school football Top 25 rankings for 2025, according to Massey as of Dec. 9.
1. Detroit Catholic Central (14-0)
The Detroit Catholic Central Shamrocks (14-0) finished the season the way they have played most of it and that’s with complete and utter domination. The Shamrocks cruised to the Division 1 title in a 42-19 beatdown of Cass Technical at Ford Field on the final day of the finals.
Michigan State receiver signee Samson Gash led the way all season long with 25 catches for 490 yards and eight touchdowns. With the way Gash and the offense had been playing all year long, it was going to be tough to slow this bunch down.
Through 14 games, the Shamrocks rocked and rolled offensively, averaging to the tune of 38.2 points per game and capping the season undefeated with a state championship put the perfect finishing touches to 2025.
2. Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Prep (11-2)
The Eaglets, the defending Div. II state champions had kicked off the 2025 campaign by dismantling Portage Northern in a 41-0 decision. They ended it the same way they started it and that was in blowout fashion as Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Prep dismantled Dexter in a 51-14 rout for the D-II crown.
Orchard Lake St. Mary’s quarterback Jabin Gonzales has been one of the state’s top quarterbacks and the junior signal caller guided one of the state’s most potent offenses with precision. With an offense that’s averaging an impressive 37.5 points per game, a lot was put on the shoulders of Gonzales and crew to keep the scoring average up week in and week out.
The only two losses on the season for the Eaglets came against Detroit Catholic Central and Brother Rice, respectively.
3. Dewitt (14-0)
The Dewitt Panthers (14-0) make their way inside of the Top 5 to close the 2025 Michigan high school football season after dominating the Division 3 ranks.
The Panthers ended the season with a dominating effort against Mt. Pleasant, 54-20, as they took home the D-III state championship. A lot of the offensive success for the team can be attributed to the play of Central Michigan signee Traverse Moore, who rushed for 2,479 yards on 232 carries and scored 33 touchdowns.

Hudsonville had been dominant at the early onset of the season edged out East Kentwood, 43-42. In the rematch, however, East Kentwood would get their revenge and defeat Hudsonville soundly, 52-28, in the MHSAA Division 1 playoffs.
The Eagles had many close calls throughout the season, winning four one-score games.
5. Cass Technical (14-1)
Rounding out the Top 5 of our Michigan rankings are the Cass Technical Technicians, which lost in the Division 1 state championship to top-ranked Detroit Catholic Central, 42-19, at Ford Field.
