Leon Paul steps down as Lancaster (TX) football coach, assistant AD
According to a press release by Lancaster High School (TX), Leon Paul has resigned from his roles as the Tigers’ assistant athletic director and head football coach.
The Tigers finished the season with a 4-6 record, falling to DeSoto in the regular season finale, 53-14. Here is an excerpt from the school’s statement on Paul’s resignation.
“Today, we announced that Coach Leon Paul has resigned from his role as assistant athletic director and head football coach at Lancaster High School. He will remain with the district in another capacity as a valued employee. Thank you, Coach Paul, for your service to our student-athletes.
As our district begins the search for its next assistant athletic director and head football coach, we encourage our parents, alumni and community to complete a survey to provide feedback on the qualities they would like to see in the next assistant athletic director/head football coach.”
Before taking over Lancaster back in the summer of 2021, Paul was the passing game coordinator at Duncanville, taking over for then-Tigers head coach Chris Gilbert. In his five seasons at the helm, Paul compiled a record of 36-22, with his best campaign being his first when Lancaster went 10-1.
