Mississippi High School Football Rankings: Top 25 Teams - Oct. 21

The high school football season continued in Mississippi last week, as many of the top programs in the Magnolia State were in action. Plenty of interesting results followed.

Another jam-packed slate is on deck as teams continue their quests for a state title. Below are the top 25 Mississippi high school football teams, according to the Massey Ratings, as of Oct. 21.

1. West Point Green Wave

The best team in Mississippi high school football is at 7-0 after a dominating 41-6 victory against Lafayette. Quentin Thompson had 100 rushing yards and a touchdown. West Point will travel to Caledonia for an October 24 game.

2. Tupelo Golden Wave

The Golden Wave are on a three-game winning streak after a 35-17 victory against Hernando. Tupelo’s ground game was on fire, generating 303 yards and five touchdowns. Braylen Williams (117 yards, two touchdowns), Kylan Bobo (86 yards, two TDs), and Jaeden Hill (96 yards, one TD) led the rushing attack. The Golden Wave will host Horn Lake on the 24th.

3. Madison-Ridgeland Academy Patriots

The Patriots are on a seven-game winning streak after a 49-21 win against Parklane Academy. Samuel Stockett threw for 414 yards and three touchdowns, while Colson O’Cain had 111 rushing yards and a touchdown. Meanwhile, three Madison-Ridgeland Academy players (Will Bizot, Case Thomas, and Will Jones) went beyond the 100-receiving-yard mark. The Patriots can get win number eight versus Brookhaven Academy on the 24th.

4. Oxford Chargers

The Chargers improved to 6-1 after escaping with a 43-42 win against Germantown. Demar Jamerson finished with 131 rushing yards and three touchdowns, while Knox Kiffin threw a touchdown pass to Kevin Smith. Oxford’s 2025 Mississippi high school football season continues with an October 24 road game against Clinton.

5. Starkville Yellowjackets

After losing to Clinton, the Yellowjackets responded with a 28-7 victory over Clinton. A’Braylen Jenkins had a rushing and a receiving touchdown, while the Starkville defense generated touchdowns off an interception return and a fumble recovery. Starkville can start another winning streak by beating Murrah on October 24.

6. Ocean Springs Greyhounds

The Greyhounds rediscovered their winning ways after defeating D’Iberville 42-21. Solomon Baggett dusted the Warriors’ defense with 235 rushing yards and four touchdowns. Next on Ocean Springs’ schedule is an October 24 road game against West Harrison.

7. Petal Panthers

The Panthers have won five in a row after escaping with a 27-21 victory over Brandon. Petal can improve to 7-2 for the 2025 Mississippi high school football season by defeating Pearl on the 24th.

8. Oak Grove Warriors

The Warriors are back on the win column after defeating Meridian 42-21. Kellen Hall threw for three touchdowns and added a rushing score. Micah Caraway, Deavious Weary, Jared Milsap, and Chavel Williams Jr. each had a receiving touchdown. Meanwhile, Pedro Anderson led the Oak Grove defense with three sacks. The Warriors will face Brandon on the 24th.

9. Columbia Wildcats

While Wildcats surrendered a season-high 30 points to Tylertown, it was still not enough to hand them their first loss. Columbia scored 54 points to improve their record to 8-0. The Wildcats can get win number nine by defeating South Pike on the road on the 24th.

10. Brandon Bulldogs

The Bulldogs came up short against Petal, bringing their record to 3-4. Brandon can go back to .500 with an October 24 road win against Oak Grove.
