Myles McLaughlin sets Indiana's single season rushing record

It has been a season to remember for Knox (IN) senior quarterback Myles McLaughlin, who is having one of the most prolific seasons for a runner all-time. In last week’s 50-21 win over Jimtown, the senior added another accomplishment to what will go down as one of the greatest rushing seasons for a quarterback.

McLaughlin rushed for 469 yards and seven touchdowns in the victory over Jimtown, resetting Indiana’s all-time single season rushing record now at 3,603. The senior posted on social media over the weekend regarding the accomplishment.

“469 yards, 7 TDs, and a night I’ll never forget. Broke the Indiana single-season rushing record (3,603 yds). Grateful for my teammates, coaches, family & community for believing in me. Blessed to be in this position—we’re not done yet.“

Earlier this season, McLaughlin, who now has carried the ball 309 times and scored 55 touchdowns on the ground this season, had joined former New Palestine standout Charlie Spegal as the only two runners to ever break the 10,000-yard plateau in Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) football history.

McLaughlin has had to do very little throwing from his quarterback position, completing 9 of 19 passes for 270 yards and two touchdowns through 10 games played.

Up next for Knox is a matchup against Griffith Senior (9-1) on Halloween.
