'84 Heels, '12 Heels. Both derailed by PG injuries.

1994 UNC was uber talented even if they didn’t mesh well.

2012 Heels has to be the best team not to make the final four. Dang it Creighton.

‘84 Heels. #1 NBA draft pick, AA (Daugherty), Future NPOY, 1st Team (Smith), GOAT (Jordan), 4 time AA (Perkins) + amazing glue guys, Steve Hale (defense, free throws, shooting, floor game) three year starter (Doherty), and future AA (Joe Wolf). LakeLawyer said It. “That game” still hurts.

t55 — with all due respect, the 84 Heels would take the 12 Heels by 15 at both team’s best (and ‘12 Heels were definitely the best team in the country that year).

2012 Heels. I firmly believe we would have beaten Kentucky that year on a neutral site at full strength. We almost beat the runner-up with Stillman White at PG.

87 team probably wasn’t as good as 84, but relative to the rest of the field, I think it was better.

No question . Been watching Heels since Billy Cunningham and except for possibly 2009 Heels that was the best UNC team ever including NCAA Champs.

2007 UNC gets overlooked in a lot of these convos because of what happened in 08 and 09. But we finished the year #1 in KenPom.. darn Georgetown game.

I'm not convinced of that. Kentucky was also a great team. Would have been an epic championship game.

1994 UNC lost a bunch of games and were never a dominant team. Duke 2002 merits some discussion too. I imagine some Ralph Sampson teams merit discussion?

Unfortunately, we have quite a few teams on this list.

I was at the game in Rupp. Loudest I’ve ever heard an arena and easily gave them 2-3 points. Nobody can ever convince me we wouldn’t have beaten them on a neutral court that year. Totally agree it would have been an epic game…way better than the snooze fest with that pathetic Kansas team.

I wouldn't put this year's duke team in that category though. I never thought they were as good as their record indicated or as good as last year's squad. I actually thought last year was their best team since the 2002 team that lost to IU. 2019 duke has to be at the top of their list tho.

What about the Maryland team that lost in the ACC Finals to State in 1974?
