The incident occurred along the 100 block of South Pugh Street, with a report filed at 10:35 p.m. State College police charged McKenna, 18, with felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor simple assault, and two summary offenses, including disorderly conduct and harassment. If found guilty, McKenna faces up to 20 years in prison. According to sources, the team had been at a downtown bar with friends and family following the outdoor game at Beaver Stadium. During the incident, McKenna allegedly assaulted an unidentified individual, leaving the victim with a broken jaw. McKenna is considered a potential first overall pick in the 2026 NHL Draft. He has recorded 32 points this season, tallying 11 goals and 21 assists, and scored against Michigan State at Beaver Stadium. Onward State has reached out to Penn State Athletics for comment and will update this story if a response is received. This story will be updated with more information as it is released. [/QUOTE]

Just based on the story. Seems like he punched a guy during a bar fight and broke his jaw.

Is there more to the story than a simple fight that he won?

Facing up to 20 years in prison for this? Seems a tad outrageous…

Doesn't sound like he won if he's going to jail.

Wonder if he pulled the jersey over the other dude's head before he jacked him?

No one goes to jail for this. He’ll get fingerprinted and photographed and then plead guilty to misdemeanor simple assault and get probation. End of story.

That won’t happen. That’s the max for a felony in PA. If I had to guess (but I’m not a lawyer), he’ll plead to a lesser charge that comes with probation and then pay the guy he punched a settlement. But again, I’m not a lawyer

All he had to do was come here for one year and stay out of trouble. SMH. At the very least he probably just shot his chances of being the #1 pick into orbit.

If this affects his status as a player for the rest of the season, where does leave the boosters who I assume footed the NIL bill to bring him to PSU? Of course, IMO he probably won't miss a shift. BUT if this did impact his availability, how would that affect his NIL payments?

For him this is worse than going to prison.

Even though it is a frequent occurrence here, I’m always amazed by people’s ability to jump to conclusions with little to no knowledge of what happened.

Not convinced a hockey team is going to pass on a guy because he got into a bar fight at 18.... (unless details are worse than it seems).
