Jason Hart Update (March 24)

Recent conversations have linked SMU as a serious potential destination for Kentucky assistant Jason Hart, sources tell me and @JackPilgrim. Still working to get final confirmation, but there's serious smoke in that direction. There was talk of the Pepperdine job opening, but we can confirm he is not a likely candidate.

Wasn’t it SMU that started the Pope cascade of events?

SMU is the reason we have Pope now. Enfield left USC to go to SMU which led Musselman to go to USC.....

Good luck to him. SMU is a much easier job, less expectations. Hire Rondo to replace his position (partial sarcasm, partial being serious)

SMU has money......lots of money....and high aspirations as a new ACC member. Dink will be headed there if the tie to Hart is as reported.

My first call would be coach o at Illinois because he brings in the recruits and he connects with the elite players.

He’s got a great gig at Illinois. Wonder if he still has a home and family in Lex? I wouldn’t expect Pope to lure former Cal assistants back to UK but I always really liked Coach O

Yeah I’m pretty sure SMU was one of the places that had reached out to Dink beforehand if I remember correctly

SMU as in an assistant role right? Would this be because Pope wants him to leave or is this the assistants leaving a sinking Pope ship?

Sinking ship for sure. Gonna be an offseason full of signs that the Pope era is coming to an end after a disaster year 3

Not a good start to the off season for Pope.
Yes because as an assistant Hart brought in so many recruits. Pope needed to redo most of his staff going into to next season if he wanted to last past next season.

Will he take all the recruits he has committed here with him? Image
