Rhett Lashlee is not coming to Michigan.

Spoke to my friend, who is one of SMU’s biggest boosters. When Arkansas recently made a run at Lashlee, SMU gave him a long contract extension and a salary approaching $10M annually with incentives. The contract also has a large buyout. And before you conclude that UM could outbid SMU, be aware that SMU’s biggest donors are awash with oil money and will do whatever is necessary to keep their coach. They quickly raised over $100M to allow SMU to forego ACC revenue for nine years so they could get into the conference. And they raised another $50M for stadium improvements. And — unlike Michigan — SMU’s athletic department is not dysfunctional and is fully supported by SMU’s administration. SMU’s admissions department is also much more flexible than ours. Lastly, the path to the playoffs as an ACC member is likely easier than the path UM has to the playoffs in the Big 10.

Thanks for posting. I’ll quit watching football if it’s easier for SMU to make the playoffs than it is at Michigan. No chance with our resources. We just need a coach with a pulse and one that doesn’t stick his D into everything that has a heartbeat.

Then make them pay him. You don’t not pursue because of what you perceive another university to have. Ever.

We literally have the 3rd richest person in the world bankrolling his wife’s love for Michigan. Even if you took all the oil money in Texas, I’m not sure it matches their wealth. So if they wanna outbid somebody for a coach, I think they could do it pretty easily. I hear a lot of this Texas oil money talk and I get it. They’re rich. But only a few people in the world are Ellisons rich!

Also, “blue bloods” are not what they used to be. IU TTU others have paths. Don’t need the name as much as you used to to get HS or portal guys.

SMU hasn’t even begun to tap their resources, if they become anything of a yearly contender, watch out

And it’s also a fact that it doesn’t hurt Michigan at all to kick the tires. SMU might be feel confident and might be paying him in the top ten, but money isn’t everything and Michigan could outbid

I wasn’t expecting him to come and honestly it’s mostly fans asking if they could get him. I don’t know about you guys. But at a point, it’s it is what it is. Love Michigan football but I’m not losing sleep over this BS, until they fix the internal BS we have going inside schembechlar hall. Maybe just MAYBE! We’ll get things going. I’m fking tired of this administration. Clean this 💩 up already man!!
