We still wanted smothers even after the texas visit. He was our first guy in the portal, a top priority. Dont cope, it was a loss. We got beat it is what it is tho move on.

no I’m sayin everything that was said was that we had a very good offer on the table for him and tried to make it better. That means 1-1.5M for a RB or else we don’t know what a good offer is. So if Texas beat our offer 1.5-2M makes sense.

I’m sure we were at $1M or higher, maybe even $1.5M. Sounds like there might have been some bidding with someone else or Texas wanted to shut it down. I doubt you go back on your word for a 10% bump but who knows.
