I knew our program was headed nowhere fast under his so-called “leadership,” and it was frustrating watching other teams make bold hires and spark renewed hope. Honestly, I was even jealous of MSU landing Fitz—widely considered one of the worst hires, yet still a far better in-game coach than Sherrone.
Ironically, his own downfall ended up being a blessing for us. His antics and firing for cause opened the door for one of the most experienced head coaches in the country—the very one I wanted more than DeBoer once I learned he was on our radar (the only coach I wanted more was Monken). This hire fits everything Michigan football stands for, perfectly.
In a strange way, we owe Coach Moore some thanks for indirectly saving Michigan football. He never should have had the job in the first place, but his misstep cleared the path for real change—starting with himself and soon Warde. Honestly, we couldn’t be a luckier fanbase.

I was happy Sherrone was here until the whole mess blew up. Subsequently, I was happy that he was canned (after the whole mess blew up). I expect that the program will improver under KW and flourish for however long he stays in the job. Overall, I agree with the OP - we’re better off now than we were a month ago and we have Sherrone (and his inability to keep it in his pants) to thank for that

He wasn’t ready for the head coaching job, but who in their right mind turns it down when offered? I don’t blame him for trying to take it on. But as we can plainly see now, he never should’ve been offered the job, and that’s on Warde. In a different universe, Sherrone is either our OC the last couple of years under a new head coach or he’s moved on to another role where he hopefully was thriving. I hope he figures out what he needs to fix within himself and has a great comeback story. Either way, he’s still a big part of that 2023 team and its story, and I’m thankful we’ll have that.I knew our program was headed nowhere fast under his so-called “leadership,” and it was frustrating watching other teams make bold hires and spark renewed hope. Glad for what he did in 2023, but he was going to be fired regardless. He was just not ready, and this scandal allowed us to pull the plug earlier. Can you imagine him being here again next year.
