John Wall still loves UK. Do we need anyone else? He was the coolest player anyway.

I’m glad Cal is gone. The last few years he sucked as bad as Pope but with much better players. I guess this is the price we pay by legitimizing Cal’s shady past. Mitch had to get this hire right and his 1st choice was Drew. Then he lazily went after a guy that won the last 2 championships but was never going to come here in Hurley. Then instead of digging in and going dark looking for a legit replacement he does the easy thing and hires Pope. I was at Rupp for Popes opening press conference and bought in hook line and sinker that he was the guy. I even shed a couple of tears at that event. Now I’m shedding a few because I don’t recognize this version of Kentucky basketball at all. We’ve become a punchline that used to be reserved for Kentucky football. I don’t remember a more difficult time for Kentucky basketball. We went from gold standard to cheap imitation in no time. I’m at a loss.

I’ve been a huge pope fan. Maybe he’s not the guy, I don’t know. Would like to see how these last 2 seasons would have gone with a full roster. I still think you give him a year 3, but if you don’t, you absolutely have to have a home run hire lined up and ready. So for those who think pope wasnt the guy, who should have UK hired?

I didn’t go to Pope’s introduction at Rupp because I watch College Basketball and knew he was a sh*t coach and not the right hire. I don’t know what has happened to this fan base but it is embarrassing.

We should have touched base with a number of guys, primarily Dusty May and Todd Golden.
