What is a successful year for vols basketball?

If we lose on Friday, do you consider this season successful? People move the goal post everytime Barnes accomplishes something. In my eyes sweet 16 is success

Sweet 16 is a successful year in my book. Elite 8 is a great season.

It will be disappointing if we lose but won’t make the season a disappointment. Have to be able to separate the two. We will all be in the moment on Friday night. So emotions will be high and if we fall short, disappointment will there. But making it to the sweet 16, especially as a 6 seed is a solid ending. Not great, but solid

To get to this point with truthfully only 2 players that can score the basketball is absolutely a success. Phenomenal job…do I want more? Absolutely! Will I be disappointed if we lose? Yep! But they have had a great season

If Ament were healthy, then it would still be a good season. With Ament limping and Phillips out, it's been a successful run. Win tomorrow night/Saturday morning, and it's a great season.

We always want more. That's only natural. But, yes, this season has been a success by any measure. There were no doubt some portal misses, but Rick - as he always does - has gotten just about all he can out of this team. I think getting to the Sweet 16 should always be the goal. At that point, it's about matchups and a little luck. Hopefully, both are in our favor this time around. But the season as whole should be celebrated either way.

How is advancing to the Sweet Sixteen ever not successful. Look what just happened to FLA and what happened UNC in their first game.

Sweet 16 for TN basketball is a successful season. It's a no-brainer.

We will have posters that will run to the board and call this season an udder disappointment that also proclaimed in early January that this team won't even make the tournament.

100 percent. Started Vol bball with Ernie and Bernie. Then went through droughts from then through DeVoe. Occasional pop up success but meh. Complete doldrums from my college years with Wade Houston through a popup talent laden Jerry Green year or two. Pearl re-energized program but was a little longer than a flash in the pan. Doldrums again till Rick. Rick has built a perennial program. 4 straight Sweet 16s. Two consecutive Elite 8s. Team has been nationally relevant since 17-18. This year roster didn’t come together completely and injury bug hit. Still Sweet 16. This is the golden era of Vol Basketball. Success.

Huge success IMO.......You can point to to a number of issues to complain about or you can enjoy what is no doubt the golden age of Tennessee basketball.

S16 is absolutely a success. The fact we can even ask this question is a testament to the program Barnes has built. If they had lost in the R32 it would have felt like a team that underperformed and didn’t accomplish anything of merit in the season, but they got it done. Anything else is gravy.

Ultimately successful but short of what I realistically hoped for heading into the season. There were some head scratcher disappointments along the way. But a Sweet 16 season is always ultimately a success.

Already a great success. And Barnes did it while primarily playing two bigs. Who knew!?

Anything moving forward is bonus. Without a definitive 2 guard, this team has exceeded expectations. Would love a W Friday…but definitely a success.

It already is. Never take making the sweet 16 for granted.
