Jacob Thomas has been committed to Pittsburgh since March 1, but other programs haven’t backed off. One of the schools making a strong push is Nebraska, and the three-star wide receiver out of Miramar (Fla.) Flanagan made his first trip to Lincoln this past weekend.

The No. 278 prospect in the 2027 Rivals300 came away impressed.

“It was a very good experience to get up in Lincoln and see what it’s about,” Thomas told Rivals. “They welcomed me and made sure I saw everything they had to offer.”

Thomas toured much of campus, saw the facilities, and took in Nebraska’s gameday environment.

“The biggest highlights of the visit were just the facility, how the fans are on gamedays, what it’s like at home in Lincoln, and the light show — that was definitely amazing.”

A lot caught his attention before the game, but Nebraska’s performance on the field didn’t disappoint either.

“Those guys definitely played a good game, which was expected because Nebraska has guys that can make plays at any time in the game.”

Although committed to Pitt, Thomas admitted the Cornhuskers made a big impression.

“After the visit, I feel good about Nebraska,” he said. “The atmosphere in Lincoln is absolutely amazing. From the environment, the fans, the coaching staff — overall it was a great experience. I’m just taking everything in stride during this recruitment process and seeing what will be the best fit for me.”

Thomas’ next scheduled trip will be back to Pittsburgh when the Panthers host Louisville.
