Norman North (Okla.) four-star wide receiver Mason James is down to five schools in his recruitment, he tells On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

He’ll decide between Missouri, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas State and Washington later this summer on June 25. James has official visits locked in with four of the five already, heading to Missouri (June 30), before stops at Washington (June 6), Texas (June 13) and Oklahoma (June 20).

The in-state Sooners will have the chance to make a final impression just a few days before his decision.

No school has been more of a constant in his recruitment.

“They were first to offer me and from the start, Oklahoma has been there, they have been consistent and they have shown me I am important to them,” he previously told On3’s Chad Simmons. “That consistency has shown me a lot.”

Notre Dame was once considered a strong contender, but the Irish are no longer part of the race. He visited the Sooners, Tigers and Huskies in March, and came away impressed by each. Texas then hosted him last month in Austin.

“Missouri and Washington were great visits. Both coaching staffs are recruiting me hard too. Texas is another one I would say is a contender,” he told Simmons. “Those schools are doing a great job. That group and Oklahoma are all in there for me.”

Texas making a strong push in recent months

The Longhorns were a late addition to his recruitment but have made up plenty of ground.

“It was amazing for me and my family to be here,” James told Inside Texas after his visit in April. “Just very blessed and honored. Even though I got the offer late, for the Texas family to show me love is really big for me in this process.”

The 5-foot-10, 175-pounder is the No. 195 overall prospect in the 2026 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also ranks as the nation’s No. 29 wide receiver and No. 1 recruit in the state of Oklahoma.
