Kenny Dillingham further addresses links to coaching search at Michigan
Of the coaches that continue to come up in the coaching search at Michigan, a name among them is still Arizona State’s Kenny Dillingham. However, simply put, Dillingham just has a lot of love for Tempe.
Speaking at his media availability today, Dillingham was asked if he wanted to address any of the possible panic within the Sun Devils’ fanbase who may be thinking that he’s possibly considering leaving to take the job with the Wolverines. He kept it straightforward, saying he’s only focusing on doing right by his people and further expressing his love for being at ASU.
“I think my job is to try to do whatever I can for the people that are with me, right, the people that are in the foxhole, the coaches that are in the foxhole with me. I got to do whatever I can to fight for those people, for my family, for everything from that perspective,” said Dillingham. “And, you know, I love it here. I’ve said that since day one. That’s absolutely never changing, absolutely never changing. So, yeah. That piece is never changing.”
Since the sudden firing last week of Sherrone Moore in Ann Arbor, Dillingham has been a notable name that has come up often when it comes to the maize & blue. His name has now since come up in connection to several jobs over the course of this coaching carousel, which makes sense with him being 22-16 (.579) to this point through his third season, including a 19-7 (.731) the past two years, with, last season, a win in the Big 12 Championship and appearance in the College Football Playoff, with the Sun Devils.

However, maybe like some of the other rumored candidates to this point, there hasn’t been an outright no yet, despite plenty of praise still for the program he’s currently at, from Dillingham. That has left that door somewhat open still to this point, with many waiting for an update in the form of either an official signing of a reported extension as of now for him to remain at Arizona State or for another hire besides him to be made by Michigan.
In what’s already been a wild coaching cycle, the Wolverines started it all back up again by firing Moore. That has Dillingham’s name now back in the thick of things, as he continues to maintain his interests out in the desert.
“Well, I mean, like I said, it’s a crazy – this profession is absolutely wild, and it’s just a wild profession, it’s a wild industry right now,” Dillingham said. “It’s just nuts.”
