Arkansas coaching search: ESPN adds Alabama DC Kane Wommack amid four potential candidates

Arkansas is one of the three SEC teams looking for a head coach. While Florida and LSU await a resolution from Lane Kiffin, the Razorbacks appear to be closing in on a potential hire. ESPN’s Pete Thamel provided the latest, naming four candidates. One comes from inside the conference, currently serving as a defensive coordinator.
“The latest on the Arkansas search today is that it appears to be coming to a culmination in the near future,” Thamel said during the Arkansas-Texas broadcast. “I’ve been told to expect some resolution in the upcoming days. Sources have told me there’s four names that have been linked to this the most. USF‘s Alex Golesh, Memphis‘ Ryan Silverfield, North Texas‘ Eric Morris, and Alabama defensive coordinator Kane Wommack. Look for some resolution in the near future for the next Hog coach.”

Three of those four are still fighting for a spot in the College Football Playoff. Morris and Golesh are battling to win the American, hoping to secure the Group of Five auto-bid. Wommack is a win away from helping Alabama get into the SEC Championship game, while also alive for an at-large spot.
On3’s Pete Nakos put together a similar report on Saturday morning. You can check out the full story from Nakos here. However, Wommack’s name is a new one for Arkansas.
