Behren Morton injury update: Latest on Texas Tech quarterback
Texas Tech quarterback Behren Morton left the season opener against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday night following a sack in the second quarter. Head coach Joey McGuire told reporters Saturday night following the win that Morton’s injury was a hyperextension of the knee.
According to sources, an X-ray and MRI came back negative as he deals with soreness. His status for Week 2 against Kent State remains an unknown, but there is no rush to get him back.
Morton has dealt with injuries throughout his career including his right ankle and collarbone. He underwent surgery last December for a grade-3 sprain to his AC joint.

In his two quarters of play on Saturday night, the quarterback completed 16 of 18 passes for 201 yards and four touchdowns. Expectations are high for Texas Tech after the Red Raiders spent million in the portal to revamp their roster. Texas Tech is expected to contend for a Big 12 title and College Football Playoff berth.
Behren Morton has been bothered by injuries to his right ankle and his right collarbone over the course of his career. Dr. Neal ElAttrache performed surgery in December to repair Morton’s grade-3 sprain to the AC joint.
