Benjamin Brahmer injury update: Iowa State releases statement on TE's status after collapsing on the field

Iowa State tight end Benjamin Brahmer collapsed on the field in a game against Arizona State on Saturday. He had taken a hard hit in the fourth quarter.

Initially, Brahmer got up but appeared to be stumbling as he made his way to the sidelines. He then collapsed and fell to the ground as trainers rushed to his side.

He was later transported to Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa, as a precaution. He was awake and alert. On Saturday evening, Iowa State provided an update on his status.

“Ben was transported to Mary Greeley Medical Center after suffering an injury in the fourth quarter of today’s Iowa State-Arizona State football game,” the update on Benjamin Brahmer read. “He was evaluated and treated and has been discharged from the hospital.”

Benjamin Brahmer is in his third season with the Cyclones after being named Big 12 Honorable Mention each of the past two years. He was also named a freshman All-American according to multiple outlets in 2023.

So far this season, Brahmer had accumulated 29 catches for 317 yards and three touchdowns. Iowa State went on to lose 24-19 against Arizona State on Saturday to fall to 5-4 (2-4 Big 12) on the season.
