CBS Sports shakes up QB Power Rankings ahead of Week 6 of college football
So much of the game of football falls upon who the quarterback is. With elite names across the country putting up great numbers, it can be hard to determine how to rank the best of the best. That’s why you could leave it to CBS Sports who have released their latest Quarterback Power Rankings.
After the fifth week of the college football season, CBS has Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud atop their list. With 1,376 yards already with a 9 to 1 touchdown to interception ratio, it’s hard to argue otherwise at this point of the year.

- CJ Stroud – Ohio State Buckeyes
- Drake Maye – North Carolina Tar Heels
- Caleb Williams – USC Trojans
- Hendon Hooker – Tennessee Volunteers
- Bryce Young – Alabama Crimson Tide
- Dorian Thompson-Robinson – UCLA Bruins
- Max Duggan – TCU Horned Frogs
- Jalon Daniels – Kansas Jayhawks
- Grayson McCall – Coastal Carolina Chanticleers
- DJ Uiagalelei – Clemson Tigers
This list is a who’s who of potential Heisman candidates this season. Stroud is atop many lists as of now, but quarterbacks like Williams, Hooker, and Young are also amongst the list of candidates. However, Young’s injury is what caused a major shakeup at the top of this week’s list.
Tar Heel quarterback Drake Maye has truly turned heads as a redshirt freshman in Chapel Hill. He started strong and hasn’t slowed down with 1,594 yards, 22 total touchdowns, and only one interception. All of that production and Young’s AC joint sprain is what helped the UNC QB take the No. 2 spot.
Thompson-Robinson, Duggan and Daniels have been stars and feel-good stories of the 2022 season through the first five weeks. Meanwhile, McCall and Uiagalelei round out the quarterback list as veterans who have put up improved numbers in their respective seasons.
These power rankings continue to be fluid as several quarterbacks across the country can make a case as a Top-10 player at the position. With that said, this is the group CBS is rolling with heading into Week 6 of the college football season.
