Major League Baseball Hall of Famer and former National League MVP Chipper Jones stirred up the college baseball world over the weekend when responding to some happenings around the NCAA Tournament Regionals.

“Spent quite a bit of time watching college baseball this weekend,” Jones originally wrote on Twitter. “I will only watch a select few teams from here on out. Reason? They have coaches that respect the game and their opponents and demand the same of their players.”

Without saying it, Jones was calling out Florida head coach Kevin O’Sullivan’s comments directed towards members of the Coastal Carolina Region site team, Georgia‘s unbuttoned uniforms and a Florida State pitcher making inappropriate comments towards a Mississippi State batter in the Tallahassee Regional.

He further clarified who he was going after on Wednesday night.

“Lotta speculation on who I was speaking of in my post last night,” Jones said Wednesday night on X/Twitter. “So let’s get it outta the way. I was disappointed in how [Florida] coach [Kevin O’Sullivan] handled the situation of the time change in the [Coastal Carolina] region. I felt it could have been addressed differently.”

“As I sat with my [Georgia] alum friend, watching the Dawgs/[Oklahoma State], the uniforms were a mess, taunting, bat flipping, s*** talking was above and beyond normal. My friend who played baseball at [Georgia] agreed. And a [Florida State] pitcher tells a [Mississippi State] hitter to ‘sit the f*** down, u I****d b****’. I believe these to be excessive and unsportsmanlike. I am from Florida, I am a Gator at heart. I have a ton of respect for FSU…..played against Link Jarrett….and [Georgia] has become my second favorite because of all of my relationships.”

“This is not personal in any way, shape or form. Im hearing of other instances as well, but these are the ones that i witnessed. Whenever coaches have to issue apologies, I know Im not the only one who feels this way. Want to wish the best of luck to the rest of the teams in the tournament. Have fun with ur teammates, respect ur opponent and respect the game!”

With Super Regional play commencing this weekend, it’s safe to say that Jones may be pleased that Florida and Georgia have both been eliminated. He may have tipped off who he will be supporting the rest of the way out, as he endorsed Coastal Carolina head coach Kevin Schnall during his original X/Twitter comments.

“Big fan of coach (Kevin) Schnall at Coastal Carolina!” he wrote. “Him and his team represent what college baseball should be like. Well done, sir! U stand for proper behavior.”
