Week 7 of college football was filled with action, and the excitement didn’t let up from the start of Saturday’s games to the very end. After all of the results in Week 7, a new AFCA Coaches Poll Top 25 has been released with significant changes in the rankings.

Overall, teams in the top 25 entering the weekend went just 11-8. Six of those losses came in matchups between two ranked teams, while No. 19 Kansas and No. 25 James Madison each fell to unranked opponents.

As far as the ranked matchups on the weekend, this was one of the best weekends of college football in recent memory. It started in Knoxville with No. 6 Tennessee hosting No. 3 Alabama, and that one certainly lived up to the hype. The Vols ultimately won on a last second field goal, much to the pleasure of Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin. Kiffin’s Rebels won over Auburn to improve to 7-0.

Elsewhere in the SEC, No. 23 Kentucky got back on track with a victory over No. 16 Mississippi State.

There was another top ten matchup on the weekend’s slate, with the other coming from the Big Ten in the form of No. 10 Penn State vs. No. 5 Michigan. The Wolverines cruised to a 41-17 victory, making a strong case for themselves to move further up in the rankings.

No. 7 USC and No. 8 Oklahoma State both lost in ranked contests on Saturday, with the Trojans losing to No. 20 Utah and the Cowboys falling to No. 13 TCU in double overtime. No. 15 NC State was without quarterback Devin Leary against No. 18 Syracuse, something they’ll be doing the rest of the season. The Wolfpack couldn’t overcome that loss on offense, falling 24-9 to the Orange.

After all of the action, a new Coaches Poll is out that reflects the chaotic results over recent weeks.
