The latest College Football Playoff national championship odds were updated ahead of Week 8 of the 2023 regular season.

Washington increased its chances with a win over Oregon and Georgia suddenly has company near the top. Who else is still in contention at this point?

Let’s dive into the latest national title odds, courtesy of FanDuel, going into Week 8.

Georgia (+250)

(Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports)

The Bulldogs remained the favorites to win their third straight national title later this season by remaining undefeated. The win over Vanderbilt wasn’t as pretty as the win over Kentucky, but a win is a win.

However, teams are catching up to Georgia to take the top spot in all of the rankings, namely the next one on this list. But what do we say every week? Yeah, that’s what we thought.

Michigan (+300)

(Junfu Han _ USA TODAY NETWORK)

The Wolverines rolled through Indiana 52-7 after trailing by a score after the first quarter. It was like Michigan spotted the Hoosiers a score.

Think of giving strokes to a lesser playing partner in golf. You have to make it fair. Michigan is rolling with the No. 2 ranking and nearly have the same odds as Georgia at this point.

Florida State (+850)

(Melina Myers-USA TODAY Sports)

Florida State returned to dominance with a win over Syracuse. This one was over early with Jordan Travis chucking it up to Keon Coleman.

Seriously, if there’s a quarterback-wide receiver combo that could carry a team, it might be this one. Coleman is a freak and only got better after he came in from Michigan State.

Ohio State (+900)

(Barbara J. Perenic_The Columbus Dispatch _ USA TODAY NETWORK)

Ohio State dominated Purdue but are still playing second fiddle to Michigan, at least for now. That’s what happens after you lose to the Wolverines back-to-back years.

But this team is still a title contender since it’s practically a coin flip at the top of the Big Ten. It’s a wait-and-see approach until the end of the year, but this is darn good team.

Washington (+950)

(Steven Bisig-USA TODAY Sports)

Washington’s odds improved with a win over Oregon at home, taking the rivalry game in 2023. The Huskies have a Heisman Trophy contender in Michael Penix Jr. as well.

It seems like Penix Jr. can take this team as far as he’s able to. He’s that good right now. Now, Washington has the inside track to the Pac-12 title.

Penn State (+1,300)

(Matthew O’Haren-USA TODAY Sports)

Don’t forget about Penn State in the Big Ten. It seems like we say that every week when talking about Michigan and Ohio State.

Yes, the Nittany Lions beat UMass, nothing to write home about. But this is a good football team. How good? We’ll find out this week against Ohio State.

Oklahoma (+1,500)

(BRYAN TERRY_THE OKLAHOMAN _ USA TODAY NETWORK)

Oklahoma had a week off following the win over Texas in the Red River Rivalry. Good or bad, the Sooners are ready to regroup for the final stretch of the season.

Oklahoma, like Washington in the Pac-12, has the inside track in the Big 12. A rematch with Texas could happen, but the Sooners are the team to beat right now and have a shot at the national title.

Alabama (+1,700)

(John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports)

Alabama had a close call with Arkansas over the weekend after it looked like the Crimson Tide would roll. No pun intended there by the way.

Nick Saban and company are still very good, but are they national title good? That seems to be the question week in and week out.

Texas (+1,800)

(Aaron E. Martinez_American-Statesman _ USA TODAY NETWORK)

Texas is still noteworthy because of the win over Alabama and had good this team was before the bye week. Yes, the Longhorns lost to Oklahoma, but a rematch could be in the cards.

Also, Quinn Ewers still leads this offense and that defense earned a lot of respect this year. Don’t rule out Steve Sarkisian and company.

Next set of contenders

Oregon (+3,300)
North Carolina (+6,000)
USC (+8,000)
LSU (+10,000)
Oregon State (+13,000)
Utah (+15,000)
Tennessee (+20,000)
Notre Dame (+20,000)

The latest odds are in and we’re firmly in the second half of the college football regular season. What teams will increase their chances or fall out of the picture? Tune in next week.
