CBS Sports has released its updated Top 25 rankings following Week 6 of the college football season, and it was another wild weekend across the sport. The latest results have shaken things up once again, leading to major movement throughout the rankings.

Over the weekend, Penn State was upset by UCLA, Alabama dominated Vanderbilt, and Miami took down Florida State in a heated rivalry matchup — just a few highlights from a slate full of surprises. With the season reaching its midway point, Week 6 continued to build on some of the most intriguing storylines of the fall.

Let’s dive into the latest CBS Sports Top 25 rankings following Week 6. Check out below see where your favorite team landed.

1. Ohio State (-)

Ohio State continued their unbeaten run with a commanding 42-3 victory over Minnesota. They’ve left little doubt about who the top team in the country is thus far. Quarterback Julian Sayin led the charge, throwing for 326 yards and three touchdowns in another efficient performance.

The Buckeyes also spread the wealth on the ground, with three different players finding the end zone on rushing scores. Their defense was equally dominant, holding the Gophers to just 162 total yards of offense in a complete team effort.

2. Miami (+1)

Miami held off a furious Florida State comeback to secure a 28-22 victory, surviving 19 Seminole points in the fourth quarter. The win pushed the Hurricanes to 5-0 on the season and kept their playoff hopes intact.

Quarterback Carson Beck made a massive Heisman statement, throwing for 241 yards and four touchdowns to lead the offense. With his steady play and Miami’s balance on both sides of the ball, the Hurricanes look like a legitimate national title contender.

3. Oregon (-1)

Oregon held firm near the top of the CBS Sports rankings despite being idle in Week 6. Dan Lanning’s squad continues to look like one of the most complete and balanced teams in the nation, with championship aspirations still very much alive.

The Ducks return to action this weekend when they host Indiana in a pivotal Big Ten matchup. The winner will gain a crucial edge in the conference title race — and strengthen their College Football Playoff résumé.

4. Ole Miss (-)

Ole Miss and Lane Kiffin are rolling at 5-0, handling their bye week with major momentum intact. The Rebels have looked sharp and confident through the first half of the season, establishing themselves as one of the SEC’s most dangerous teams.

Quarterback Trinidad Chambliss has stepped up impressively in place of the injured Austin Simmons, keeping the offense humming with steady leadership and poise. While it appears Chambliss will remain the starter moving forward, Kiffin hasn’t made anything official just yet.

5. Indiana (-)

Indiana continued its impressive run with a gritty win over Iowa following a statement victory against Illinois, heading into the bye week undefeated. The Hoosiers have shown resilience and balance on both sides of the ball, earning their spot among the nation’s top 10 teams in the CBS Sports rankings.

Next week, Indiana faces its toughest test yet — a road showdown with Oregon in a marquee Big Ten matchup. The question now is whether the Hoosiers can take the next step and surpass the Ducks in the conference race, or if they’ll hit another wall like last year’s setback against Ohio State.

6. Texas A&M (-)

Texas A&M kept its perfect season alive with a 31-9 victory over Mississippi State, overcoming a sluggish start to pull away convincingly. Under Mike Elko’s leadership, the Aggies have found consistency and confidence, improving to 5-0 on the year.

Next week presents another intriguing challenge as Texas A&M hosts Florida, fresh off its upset win over Texas. With the Gators gaining momentum, the matchup will test whether the Aggies can maintain their unbeaten streak and solidify their standing near the top of the CBS Sports rankings.

7. Oklahoma (-)

Oklahoma kept its momentum rolling with a dominant win over Kent State, maintaining its strong position near the top of the CBS Sports rankings. Backup quarterback Michael Hawkins delivered an impressive performance filling in for the injured John Mateer, whose availability for the Red River Rivalry remains uncertain.

Hawkins threw for 162 yards and three touchdowns while adding 33 yards and a rushing score, showcasing poise and versatility under pressure. However, the road ahead is daunting — the Sooners are set to face six ranked opponents in their final seven games, a stretch that will define their postseason fate.

8. Texas Tech (-)

Joey McGuire has Texas Tech firing on all cylinders, as the Red Raiders improved to 5-0 with an emphatic 35-11 road win over previously unbeaten Houston. The victory solidified Texas Tech’s status as the clear frontrunner in the Big 12 and one of the more complete teams in the country.

Quarterback Behren Morton made his return from injury and showed no signs of rust, throwing for 345 yards and a touchdown in the win. With Morton healthy and the offense clicking, the Red Raiders appear poised to make a serious run at the conference title.

9. Alabama (-)

Alabama continued its resurgence by knocking Vanderbilt from the ranks of the unbeaten, avenging last season’s loss in convincing fashion. The Crimson Tide have now won four straight and are beginning to look like the powerhouse many expected coming into the year.

Quarterback Ty Simpson continues to prove he’s the real deal, throwing for 340 yards and two touchdowns to lead the offense. With Simpson in command and Alabama gaining momentum, the Tide appear poised to make a serious push in the second half of the season.

10. Georgia (-)

Georgia bounced back in a big way, returning to the win column and maintaining its spot in the top 10 of the CBS Sports rankings. The Bulldogs dominated Kentucky 35-14 at home, responding to last week’s loss to Alabama with a statement performance.

The defense was the driving force behind the victory, holding the Wildcats to just 270 total yards of offense. Georgia completely shut down Kentucky’s ground game, limiting them to only 45 rushing yards in a convincing rebound effort between the hedges.
