College Football Rankings: Josh Pate shakes up Commissioner's Poll Top 25 ahead of Week 10
Week 10 means November is on the horizon. That means it’s almost crunch time, and Josh Pate has shaken up his Commissioner’s Poll Top 25 college football rankings as a result.
The top team remained the same as Ohio State maintained the top spot. In fact, the top five teams all stayed there from last week, though there was a bit of shuffling. However, Pate acknowledged they feel interchangeable.
But there was major movement throughout the rankings. Here are the full Commissioner’s Poll Top 25 rankings, as revealed on Josh Pate’s College Football Show.
1. Ohio State (-)
Holding strong at No. 1, Ohio State is emerging as the top team in the country through nine weeks. The Buckeyes were off in Week 9, but will be back in action Saturday as Penn State comes to Columbus.
Ohio State only has one team remaining on its schedule that is ranked in the Week 10 AP Poll – Michigan in the final game of the year. The Buckeyes have been dominant through the start of Big Ten play, and this week’s matchup will be another opportunity to showcase that.
2. Texas A&M (+2)

Up two spots to No. 2 in Josh Pate’s Commissioner’s Poll college football rankings, Texas A&M made a strong statement in Week 9. The Aggies went into Death Valley at night and blew out LSU in what turned out to be Brian Kelly’s final game as the Tigers’ head coach.
Mike Elko’s group is off to its best start since 1992, taking plenty of momentum into the bye. Texas A&M will return to action in Week 11 with a trip to CoMo to take on Missouri.
3. Indiana (-)
Staying put at No. 3, Indiana again showed its dominance in Week 9. The Hoosiers didn’t leave any room for doubt against UCLA, cruising past the Bruins at Memorial Stadium to stay undefeated on the season.
Fernando Mendoza continues to draw buzz as a Heisman Trophy contender as the calendar flips to November. He sat at No. 2 in On3’s Heisman Trophy Poll after Week 9, trailing only Alabama’s Ty Simpson.
4. Alabama (-2)
Dropping two spots to No. 4, in Josh Pate’s Commissioner’s Poll, Alabama looked like it would be on Upset Alert in Week 9. The Crimson Tide trailed South Carolina in the second half before coming all the way back to get the victory in Columbia.
With that win, Alabama has now won seven straight games since a season-opening loss to Florida State as it heads into its final bye week. A big game is on tap in Week 11 as LSU heads to Bryant-Denny Stadium.
5. Georgia (-)

At No. 5, Georgia stayed put after a bye in Week 9. The Bulldogs are now getting ready for a rivalry matchup against Florida in the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party on Saturday.
UGA has put together a three-game win streak since falling to Alabama at home, including a thrilling 43-35 win over Ole Miss last time out. The Bulldogs are still very much in the mix in the SEC, not to mention the College Football Playoff picture.
6. Ole Miss (+5)
A huge riser in Josh Pate’s Commissioner’s Poll college football rankings, Ole Miss took a big step toward cementing a spot in the College Football Playoff. The Rebels held on to take down Oklahoma in Week 9 to improve to 7-1 overall on the year.
Ole Miss has another key matchup awaiting this week, though, with South Carolina on the way to Oxford. At 4-1, the Rebels are tied for second in the SEC with Georgia and have a path toward their first-ever College Football Playoff bid.

7. Miami (-1)
Following an upset loss to Louisville, Miami bounced back with a victory over Stanford in Week 9. But considering some of the other results, the Hurricanes dropped one spot to No. 7 in Josh Pate’s Commissioner’s Poll.
Miami does not have another ranked opponent on its schedule as of Week 10, but this week’s matchup is still an important one. SMU awaits in DFW for a battle between one-loss ACC teams.
8. Georgia Tech (-1)

At 8-0 overall, Georgia Tech is the last remaining undefeated ACC team heading into Week 10. The Yellow Jackets are also tied for first with Virginia in the conference standings, making for a big-time race.
Georgia Tech cruised past Syracuse last time out to improve to 8-0, and a road trip to NC State is set for Saturday night. The Yellow Jackets have two ACC games remaining after that before the season finale against Georgia, which is shaping up to be a big-time showdown.
9. Vanderbilt (+1)
Up one spot to No. 9, Vanderbilt is still squarely in the Top 10 of Josh Pate’s Commissioner’s Poll. The Commodores held on last week to defeat Missouri in thrilling fashion to improve to 7-1 on the year.
Vanderbilt’s November schedule starts with a trip to Austin this week as Texas awaits. Clark Lea’s group is looking to continue its charge through the 2025 schedule, and the finale against Tennessee is sure to be a big-time matchup.
10. Oregon (-2)
After a 21-7 win over Wisconsin in Week 9, Oregon fell two spots in Josh Pate’s Commissioner’s Poll. Still, the Ducks round out the Top 10 as they head toward their final four games.
Oregon had a rocky performance against Wisconsin before the bye, but still take a 7-1 record into the final month. After the week off, a trip to Iowa will be in the cards for Dan Lanning’s group.
