Dick Vitale received great news about his cancer diagnosis on Thursday.

Vitale shared in a tweet this afternoon that his scans showed that he is now cancer-free. In that post, though, he continued his fight against the disease by asking for further donations for cancer research with it being V Week at ESPN.

ā€œSANTA CLAUS came early as Dr Rick Brown called & said that my PET SCAN at 7 AM came back CLEAN OF CANCER ! OMG thanks so much to ALL of YOU for your (prayers),ā€ Vitale wrote in his tweet. ā€œYes I’m cutting the nets down baby it’s my National Championship!ā€

This comes a week after Vitale revealed he’d be having this scan to determine his latest diagnosis.

Vitale has been in a battle with several issues with his health over the last few years. He has had cancer like lymphoma and melanoma along with cancer on his vocal cords to go with vocal cord dysplasia.

The thought is now when or if Vitale will be able to return to broadcasting in college basketball. He missed all of last season due to these matters but there’s still three months left in this one if he were able to put a headset back on.

Still, for now, though, this is fantastic enough news for him and the sport with Dickie V. being cancer free again.
