FAU QB Kasen Weisman plan to enter transfer portal

FAU quarterback Kasen Weisman plans to enter the transfer portal at the end of the season, he tells On3. The redshirt freshman transferred in from Colorado last spring.
In six games with the Owls this season, Weisman was 39 of 73 for 416 passing yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 71 yards on 15 carries with a score. FAU fired head coach Tom Herman last week, ending the 6-16 stint over the last one-plus seasons. The Owls are on a six-game losing streak and have a 0-7 mark in the American Athletic Conference.
Weisman played high school football at Douglasville (GA) South Paulding High School, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 66 quarterback recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. At one point in his high school recruitment, Weisman was a Kansas commit.

FAU closes the season on Saturday at Tulsa at 3:30 p.m. ET. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound quarterback considered Florida and Utah State before committing to FAU last spring. During his high school career at South Paulding, he completed 305-of-505 passes (60.4%) for 4,432 yards and 38 touchdowns with 19 interceptions, while rushing 157 times for 743 yards and 15 scores.
The transfer portal officially opens on Monday, Dec. 9, 2024. More than 2,800 FBS scholarship players entered their names into the NCAA’s transfer database during the 2023-24 school year. Removing those who withdrew or went pro, the final total sat at 2,707 transfers. That means roughly 25% of all FBS scholarship players hit free agency in one year.
