Former UCLA offensive lineman Bruno Fina has committed to Duke, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.

Fina heads across the country from the West Coast after spending the the first four seasons of his college career with the Bruins. Joining Duke and new head coach Manny Diaz for the final season of his college career and the first for Diaz in Durham.

Fina played high school football at Salpointe Catholic High School in Tucson (AZ) where he was an three-star prospect ranked the No. 891 overall recruit and the No. 89 offensive tackle in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

After not appearing in any games in his first year with the Bruins, Fina saw action in six matchups between the 2021 and 2022 seasons for UCLA as a reserve lineman. Becoming a full-time starter this past season where he protected the blind side with 13 starts at left tackle. Playing a key role in UCLA leading the Pac-12 in rushing last season with 197.9 yards on the ground per game.

Fina stands at 6-foot-5 and weighs 300 pounds, adding some size and experience to bolster up Duke’s offensive line. A point of emphasis as he represents the 12th player to join the Blue Devils through the transfer portal and their seventh on the offensive line.

Duke transfer portal activity

Duke may have added 12 players to their roster through the portal this offseason, but they’ve also lost 19 players through the portal following the coaching turnover from Mike Elko to Diaz. And given their gains and losses, Duke ranks No. 66 on On3’s 2024 College Football Team Transfer Portal Rankings with an Index Score of -19.

Former Duke quarterback Riley Leonard represents the biggest transfer portal loss for the Blue Devils this offseason following his transfer to Notre Dame. But Duke was able to get a quarterback in return, adding Texas transfer Maalik Murphy to their roster. A 6-foot-5, 238-pound passer who certainly would make the Blue Devils’ offense more physically imposing if he wins the starting job under center.
