The blockbuster Week 1 matchup featuring Ohio State vs. Texas will be featured on FOX, the company announced on social media Monday. It will be a rematch of the national semifinal during last season’s College Football Playoff.

A kickoff time has not been released as of this report, but the game will be played on Aug. 30 in Columbus. The Buckeyes are an early 3.5-point favorite in the matchup, per FanDuel Sportsbook.

Moreover, the game will be featured as the “Big Noon Kickoff” game of the week for the Week 1 college football slate this fall. The network also announced that it will once again be the home for the rivalry game between Ohio State and Michigan on Nov. 29.

The game between the Buckeyes and Longhorns is the first of two matchups in the home-and-home series the two national powers will play. However, it will be the second time these two teams will match up in the last calendar year.

When these two teams met in the Cotton Bowl on Jan. 10, it was the Buckeyes would would emerge on top with a 28-14 victory. Texas was driving down the field in the fourth quarter down just a touchdown until a fumble recovery and scoop-and-score by the Buckeyes. The 14-point swing put the game out of reach for the Longhorns, and Ohio State would go on to not only win the Cotton Bowl, but also the national championship.

For the Longhorns, there would be no better way to kick off the 2025 college football season than to knock off the defending College Football Playoff champions on their home turf. For the Buckeyes, it’s the first game in Ohio Stadium since their first-round playoff win last season against Tennessee. They’ll want to put on a show in front of their Buckeyes faithful.

While much has been made regarding the official beginning of the Arch Manning era in Austin, there will also be a new starting quarterback under center for the Buckeyes during the matchup. Who that will be remains to be seen, but makes for an interesting storyline heading into the biggest matchup from the Week 1 college football slate.

Other games on tap for the opening weekend include Alabama vs. Florida State, Notre Dame vs. Miami and TCU vs. North Carolina, among other interesting matchup. However, none will be bigger than the matchup on FOX on Aug. 30.
