Week 12 Picks: Georgia vs Tennessee | Andy Staples | 11.13.23

Georgia is a 10.5-point favorite on the road inside Neyland Stadium this weekend, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

After Tennessee suffered its worst loss of the season against Missouri, the Vols are going to have their hands full with the two-time reigning national championship coming to town. On3’s Andy Staples questioned whether or not the Vols are up to the task.

“If we said the after the day after the Georgia-Auburn game that Georgia is going to be a 10-point favorite — like what has happened? Did Tennessee’s entire team quit? The only Tennessee game I’ve correctly predicted this season was last week,” Staples said on Monday. “I didn’t think it was going to be the epic butt-whooping that it was. I did think Missouri would win by a few points, and so my question is where is Tennessee right now?

“Because we know where Georgia is, right? Georgia is throttling up to killing machine territory like they are. That offense is ridiculous when you have Brock Bowers because remember, until last week, we hadn’t seen Brock Bowers and a fully healthy Ladd McConkey on the field same time. Oh, by the way, Kendall Milton‘s hamstring is feeling okay, too.”

Bowers returned from injury during the 52-17 win over No. 9 Ole Miss and was able to record a touchdown reception on the night, Milton totaled 127 yards and two touchdowns on the day and quarterback Carson Beck went for over 300 yards passing for the fifth time this season. McConkey was the team’s leading receiver on the night with 81 yards and a touchdown.

To help emphasize Staples’ point, On3’s Josh Newberg joined the show to reveal his thoughts on Georgia’s upcoming road matchup against Tennessee — and why Georgia might just steamroll the Vols in Knoxville.

“This could end up being their best game of the year. Just the way that things are going, the way that things are falling in line,” Newberg told Staples. “Tennessee, to me, feels like they’re in a hopeless place right now because you know that Joe Milton’s not the guy. You know that he just needs to carry you through the season.”

For those reasons, both Newberg and Staples are choosing Georgia to cover the 10.5-point spread against the Vols. The combination of Georgia hitting its stride while Tennessee is seemingly bottoming out is too much for either On3 host to choose in favor of Tennessee.

Kickoff between the Bulldogs and Volunteers is set for 3:30 p.m. ET live on CBS.
