Heisman Trophy Odds: Ranking betting favorites after Week 2 of college football

The latest Heisman Trophy odds are in from BetMGM following Week 2 of the college football season. Within the top 15 candidates for the award, there are 14 quarterbacks and just one position player.
While that could drastically change as the season progresses, the signal callers have made an early impression. Last year’s winner Travis Hunter played wide receiver and cornerback, breaking the QB mold of recent winners.
So without further ado, let’s dive into the latest Heisman Trophy odds. We’ll start with two quarterbacks tied at the top!
Garrett Nussmeier, QB – LSU (+900)
Through two games this season, Nussmeier has 469 yards, two touchdowns, one interception and a 68.4% completion percentage. LSU is off to a 2-0 start too.
The numbers don’t explode off the page, but Nussmeier has shown great poise, particularly in the Week 1 win over Clemson. He and the next man on this list are in the driver’s seat for the Heisman Trophy.
John Mateer, QB – Oklahoma (+900)

In his first season with Oklahoma, Mateer already made an impression. He’s coming off a career year and picked right up where he left off.
He’s tied with “Nuss” at the top of the Heisman odds at this point. He has 662 yards, four touchdowns, two interceptions, a 71.8% completion percentage, 98 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns.
Carson Beck, QB – Miami (+1,000)
Beck’s resurgence through two games is evident right now. He’s firmly in the Heisman Trophy race as Miami’s QB.
So far, he has 472 yards, four touchdowns, zero picks and a 77.8% completion percentage. Could he be the one to lead the Hurricanes to the CFP?
Dante Moore, QB – Oregon (+1,100)
How about the comeback season for Moore this year? It’s only two games, but after a year on the bench, Moore looks like a new QB with the Ducks.
In two starts, Moore has 479 yards, six touchdowns, zero interceptions and a 77.3% completion percentage. Pretty darn good!
Arch Manning, QB – Texas (+1,200)

The Manning discourse has been toxic, overwhelming and flat out absurd at some points. Through two games, Manning has shown the flashes we’ve seen before and of course, has struggled a little.
But he bounced back in Week 2 and Manning is very much in the Heisman Trophy conversation. He has 465 yards, five touchdowns, two interceptions, a 60% completion percentage, 61 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown.
LaNorris Sellers, QB – South Carolina (+1,500)
Sellers was a popular preseason Heisman trophy pick. He hasn’t truly jumped off the page this year, but he’s certainly made some highlight reel plays through two weeks.

Sellers has 337 yards, two touchdowns, zero interceptions and a 60.5% completion percentage. He also has 48 rushing yards and a score on the ground. Expect more to come.
Gunner Stockton, QB – Georgia (+1,500)
Not many people knew what to think of Stockton coming into the season. But maybe it’s time to buy some “stock-ton.” Get it? Moving on.
He has 417 yards, two touchdowns and a 69% completion percentage. Stockton also has 86 rushing yards and two scores on the ground. The Heisman Trophy could be a long shot, but he’s in the thick of things.
Devon Dampier, QB – Utah (+1,500)

The resurrection of Utah in 2025 might go through Dampier at quarterback this season. The New Mexico transfer has certainly stood out through two games and is in the Heisman Trophy conversation.
So far, he has 398 yards, five touchdowns and a 79.2% completion percentage. He also has 112 rushing yards and a touchdown.
Drew Allar, QB – Penn State (+2,000)
Allar returned to Penn State to win a national championship and maybe a Heisman Trophy would be a nice little extra prize right? He’s played well through two games.
Allar has 417 yards, three touchdowns and a 69.5% completion percentage. It’ll be interesting to see how he fares against the likes of Oregon and Ohio State coming later this year.
Jeremiah Smith, WR – Ohio State (+2,000)
We finally get to the only non-QB within these Heisman Trophy odds. Smith is a menace and should be a terror for defenses again.
But we’ve seen how difficult it is for a WR to win the award these days, sans DeVonta Smith in 2020. Smith has 11 catches for 162 yards and two touchdowns so far this season.
